Support the C.A.S.T. for Kids event in our community!
To enrich the lives of children with special needs in our community, a C.A.S.T. for Kids event is being planned! It will be a joyful day of fishing that brings children with all types of disabilities, their families, and community volunteers together for an exciting day of fun and inspiration. This event will be free for every child to attend, and they will be given an event t-shirt and hat, rod and reel, and tackle box to keep. Once fitted with a life jacket, each child and their parent/guardian will be paired with a volunteer angler for an enjoyable morning of fishing. Upon returning from the water, a shore lunch will be followed by an unforgettable awards ceremony where each child will be honored and celebrated. As each child will be called up by name to receive an award plaque with their photo, they will be greeted by cheers from the crowd. Each child will then get the microphone to share their fishing stories in front of the group. There won't be a dry eye in the place!
C.A.S.T. for Kids events provide communities the opportunity to provide a day of respite to families with children with special needs. Parents/guardians witness their children being encouraged and celebrated while enjoying the thrill of fishing. Often parents/guardians discover that fishing can be a hobby for the entire family to enjoy. Your support will help us bring this experience to up to 40 children with special needs in our community!
Anyone with a heart to serve children with special needs is invited to volunteer! On average, volunteers serve 6 hours the day of the event. Although fishing experience is not required for every volunteer position, we do need some volunteers to be hands on with fish, bait, hooks and tackle while providing basic fishing knowledge to children and their guests. Everyone can serve at C.A.S.T. for Kids! Join us!
Since 1991, the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation has served over 136,000 children with special needs and their families by hosting over 1,400 events with over 85,000 volunteers in 30 states.
Thank you for being a part of our community's C.A.S.T. for Kids event!
