Let's remember Rovie by sharing the joy of fishing with children with special needs

Our dear friend and brother Rovie Simons passed away at the age of 64 on December 9, 2023. Rovie was an expert fisherman who could drop a lure on a lily pad from 30 feet away. He shared his love of fishing with anyone who would listen and loved teaching kids, especially his grandkids how to cast and reel.

We hope Rovie's passion for fishing can inspire all children, but especially children with special needs to find the same joy that fishing brought to Rovie.

With the help of tremendous volunteers, the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation hosts fishing events for children with special needs across the nation. Since 1991, children with special needs receive joy and hope as they are celebrated as loved and valuable. Children along with their parent are paired with a volunteer for a morning of fishing. Then everyone enjoys lunch and an awards ceremony where every child receives a personalized award plaque. C.A.S.T. for Kids events bring communities together!

In 2024, C.A.S.T. for Kids hosted 96 events in 25 states sharing the joy of fishing with 7,000+ children with special needs and their family members with the help of 4,345 volunteers. Your support not only honors Rovie, but it allows more children with special needs to experience the joy of fishing.
