Let's remember Troy by sharing the joy of fishing with children with special needs
In Memory of Troy Daniel Mayberry
1/13/1998 – 2/2/2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Troy Daniel Mayberry who left us on February 2nd, 2025, at the age of 26.
He leaves behind cherished friendships and fond memories, including his bright smile, that will forever be held close to our hearts.
Born in Scottsdale, Arizona, Troy was the beloved son of Renee Cazzell, Brandon Mayberry and Joel Cazzell (Stepfather) and younger brother to Charles Mayberry. He grew up in the Phoenix Metro area, living most of his life in Glendale where he excelled as an accomplished athlete and BMX biker during his adolescence, captivating many with his talent and determination. His fearlessness allowed him to compete and achieve remarkable feats on the football field, BMX courts and various cityscapes.
Troy possessed the capacity to explore his passions and interests deeply, with a particular love for bass fishing in the lakes and ponds of Arizona; he was also fortunate to put a line in the waters of Hawaii, California, Utah and Minnesota. He was introduced to bass fishing during the tender years of childhood by his Grandparents, Dan and Susan Mayberry. His enthusiasm for the sport was unmatched throughout his adult life, and he found so much joy in every cast and catch.
Troy is survived by Renee & Joel Cazzell (Mother & Stepfather), Brandon Mayberry (Father), Charles & Jordan Mayberry & their four beautiful children (Brother & Sister-In-Law), Susan Mayberry (Grandmother), Rosemary Ramirez (Grandmother), Jake Henkle (Best Friend) and preceded in death by Dan Mayberry (Grandfather), Ruben Ramirez Sr. (Grandfather).
A celebration of life will be held on 2/23/2025 at 1PM, located at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Road, Peoria AZ 85381. Family and friends are invited to attend and honor Troy’s life and the memories he created with all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations (or volunteerism) be made to C.A.S.T. for Kids at Lake Pleasant in Troy Mayberry’s honor, reflecting his spirit and love for the outdoors.
"Just like the perfect catch, your memory will always be treasured and never forgotten."
With the help of tremendous volunteers, the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation hosts fishing events for children with special needs across the nation. Since 1991, children with special needs receive joy and hope as they are celebrated as loved and valuable. Children along with their parent are paired with a volunteer for a morning of fishing. Then everyone enjoys lunch and an awards ceremony where every child receives a personalized award plaque. C.A.S.T. for Kids events bring communities together!
In 2024, C.A.S.T. for Kids hosted 96 events in 25 states sharing the joy of fishing with 7,000+ children with special needs and their family members with the help of 4,345 volunteers. Your support not only honors Troy, but it allows more children with special needs to experience the joy of fishing.
