Support the C.A.S.T. for Kids event in our community!

We are planning a C.A.S.T. for Kids event in our community for adults, ages 18 and over, with special needs and veterans, and we need your help!

The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation partners with volunteers across the country to hold fishing events primarily for children with special needs. Their program has expanded to include fishing events for adults with special needs, veterans, patients at children's hospitals, children in foster care, schools, and more.

Our event is for adults with special needs and will be more than just a morning of fishing. Read what a caregiver of a participant had to say about their experience at a C.A.S.T. for Kids event in their community -

“Thank you for giving us a place where {participant} was not only accepted but valued. Multiple volunteers interacted with us and were happy to see her having fun. Many events can be stressful for us, but this one, being laid-back and designed to go at our pace, was really enjoyable.” – Parent of Participant

Our event will be a joyful day of fishing that brings adults over the age of 18 with all types of disabilities, veterans, their families and caregivers, and community volunteers together for an exciting day of fun and inspiration. This event will be free for every participant to attend, and they will be given an event t-shirt and hat, rod and reel, and tackle box to keep. Once fitted with a life jacket, each participant and their caregiver will be paired with a volunteer angler for an enjoyable morning of fishing. Upon returning from the water, a shore lunch will be followed by an unforgettable awards ceremony where each participant will be honored and celebrated. As each participant will be called up by name to receive an award plaque with their photo, they will be greeted by cheers from the crowd. Each participant will then get the microphone to share their fishing stories in front of the group. There won't be a dry eye in the place!

C.A.S.T. for Kids events provide communities the opportunity to provide a day of respite for individuals with special needs and their caregivers. Caregivers witness their loved ones being encouraged and celebrated while enjoying the thrill of fishing. Often caregivers discover that fishing can be a hobby for everyone to enjoy. Your support will help us bring this experience to up to 40 adults with special needs and veterans in our community!

Any adult, age 18+, with a heart to serve adults with special needs and veterans is invited to volunteer! On average, volunteers serve 6 hours the day of the event. Although fishing experience is not required for every volunteer position, we do need some volunteers to be hands on with fish, bait, hooks and tackle while providing basic fishing knowledge to participants and their guests. Everyone can serve at C.A.S.T. for Kids! Join us!

Since 1991, the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation has served over 139,000 participants with special needs and their families by hosting over 1,500 events with over 89,000 volunteers in 30 states.

Thank you for being a part of our community's C.A.S.T. for Kids event!
